Mobile Operators require a set of tools and services to assess their end-to-end network quality. All
these different tools and services serve a specific need and often complement each other.
Commsquare is active in the field of performance audits, drive-tests, the development of passive
probing solutions and is now introducing DaP: it’s Distributed Active Probing solution. DaP is a standalone
solution or is a valid complement to other tools and services for end-to-end quality monitoring.
Commsquare’s Distributed Active Probing (DaP) solution consists of a small device to be installed in
key test-locations (e.g. 20 key sites per country) and the Commsquare back-end infrastructure, providing
web-based reporting on the relevant KPIs .
This way, a Mobile Operator is able to quickly implement a non-intrusive test set-up, simulating the
Quality of Experience (QoE) of it’s end-users. DaP is able to monitor and report the QoE behaviour of
mass market users, business users or analyse the behaviour of your competitor’s services.
The DAP device has a very small form factor (size of a big wallet), includes multiple SIMs and only
needs to be powered to start sending its bundled KPI-info every 15 minutes to Commsquare’s backend
data-centre. The DAP devices are centrally controlled “over the air”.
Fully unattended solution
DaP is an integrated tool combining the active probe installed in the field in key locations, countrywide
or even abroad for monitoring roaming quality.
The Mobile Operator is granted access to the web-based reporting and is able to enjoy via an intuitive
user interface, the required reports on the QoE KPIs.
The reports are rendered in near-real-time for all the Operator’s DaP devices.
DaP is typically used to simulate the Quality of Experience of mobile data, but the reporting can
also be extended to include voice services.
Commsquare’s Distributed Active Probing solution is a fully unattended service.

just power-up the DaP units and are ready to gather your required on-line reports.
The DaP probes can of course be moved to other relevant key locations to re-iterate new
test runs.
